Profile Settings
Manage your personal security settings, contact info, and authentication preferences.
Each user in Upstat has a profile with individual settings that control login security, notification preferences, and contact details. These settings are available to all users and are separate from account-wide or project-level configuration.
Accessing Your Profile
To update your personal settings:
- Click your profile avatar in the upper-right corner
- Select Profile
- Use the available tabs to update your information or security settings
What You Can Update
1. Display Name
Your name as it appears in incidents, monitors, comments, and the Team view.
2. Contact Info
- Email (read-only for login)
- Phone number (optional, used for SMS or emergency contact)
- Timezone (used for shift displays and local time rendering)
Keeping your timezone accurate ensures you’re shown correctly in rosters and timelines.
Enabling 2FA
We strongly recommend enabling 2FA for all users, especially those with elevated permissions.
To enable:
- Go to the Security tab in your profile
- Click Enable 2FA
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
- Enter the generated code to verify setup
Once enabled:
- A time-based one-time password (TOTP) will be required at each login
- You’ll have access to recovery options (coming soon)
Disabling 2FA
To disable 2FA:
- Navigate back to Security Settings in your profile
- Click Disable 2FA
- Confirm the action with your current TOTP
Only you can disable your own 2FA—admins cannot override this setting.
Summary
- Every user can manage their profile settings independently
- Display name, contact info, and timezone help others locate and coordinate with you
- 2FA is optional but recommended and easy to enable
- Future features will offer better session visibility and control
