Getting Started with Status Pages
Create and manage public status pages that communicate your service health to customers and stakeholders.
This guide walks you through accessing, creating, and configuring status pages using the visual editor with live preview.
Accessing Status Pages
Navigate to Status Pages from the main navigation menu. You’ll see your existing status pages displayed in a list format, showing:
- Page title and description
- Current operational status
- Number of entities included
- Quick edit access
Click Create Status Page to start building a new page, or click any existing page to open the editor.
The Status Page Editor
The editor provides a split-screen interface for configuring your status page:
Left Panel - Configuration Tabs
Navigate through configuration options organized into logical sections:
- Basics - Core page information
- Branding - Visual customization
- Content - Entity selection
- Settings - Access and behavior
Right Panel - Live Preview
See exactly how your status page will appear to visitors. The preview updates instantly as you make changes, showing real-time rendering of your configuration.
Configuration Tabs
Basics Tab
Set up the fundamental information for your status page:
- Title - Enter a clear, descriptive name for your status page
- Description - Provide context about what this page monitors
- Perspective - Choose how to display status information:
- Traditional - Display multiple services and systems on one page
- Entity-Based - Focus on a single entity with its dependencies
The perspective selection determines how your page organizes and displays information.
Branding Tab
Customize the visual appearance to match your brand identity. Options for colors, logos, and themes ensure your status page aligns with your organization’s style.
Content Tab
Connect your status page to catalog entities:
- View available entity types from your catalog
- Select specific entities to display
- Organize how entities appear on the page
Note: If you see “No entity types found in catalog” or “No entities found in catalog”, you’ll need to configure catalog entities first before they can appear on your status page.
Settings Tab
Control access permissions, update behavior, and advanced configurations for your status page.
Working with Existing Pages
When you click an existing status page from the main list, you’ll see its current configuration. For example, a page might show:
- Title like “Platform Status” or “API Services”
- Current status (e.g., “Operational” or “Degraded”)
- Entity count (e.g., “5 entities” or “12 entities”)
Click the page card to open it in the editor, where you can modify any aspect of its configuration.
The Live Preview
The preview panel is a powerful feature that shows exactly how your page appears to visitors:
- Real-time updates - Changes reflect instantly as you type
- Sample data - Preview may show example entities (like “Fake Entity 1”, “Fake Entity 2”, “Fake Entity 3”) to demonstrate layout
- Status indicators - See how different operational states display
- Responsive design - Check how your page looks on different screen sizes
The preview helps you perfect your status page before making it public.
Catalog Integration
Status pages connect directly to your catalog system:
- Entity Types - Categories of services or components from your catalog
- Individual Entities - Specific services, applications, or infrastructure components
- Automatic Sync - Status updates flow from catalog to status page automatically
If your catalog is empty, you’ll need to add entities there first before they can appear on status pages.
Publishing Your Status Page
Once you’ve configured your status page:
- Review all tabs to ensure settings are correct
- Check the live preview for appearance and content
- Save your configuration
- Your page becomes available at its public URL
Changes to published pages take effect immediately.
